Cruel, but at least that way what's left of the shark goes directly back into the ecosystem, rather than just being thrown into landfill or something similar.
nah i dont believe in that, if your gonna swipe its fins and leave it to be mauled by other animals thats not on. you wouldnt see people doing it with mink's like skinning them and throwing them out into a field for a fox or dog to eat them.
If you are going to take the fin though, the shark would die more quickly by being thrown back into the water, rather than bleed to death or 'drown' on the deck of a boat. I don't agree with swiping the fins in the first place, but that's another argument.
im sure not all whaling fleets leave them to bleed to death. the medias just picked up on some. if its been caught and they want its fins the should shoot it not throw it back defenseless to be nibbled at for god knows how long by other animals
whales horses dogs cats ... there's no limit to what people want to stuff in their cakeholes. once you start eating pigs and cows what's the difference we might just as well keep going till we've exterminated everything then we can get onto cannibalism and wipe ourselves out and do the world a favour.
Probably better to wipe ourselves out first, otherwise there wouldn't be much of a world left to be doing a favour.
speaking of whales... Look at these little beauties! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/guides/456900/456973/html/nn1page1.stm whale hunting
surley whaling is a good idea, apparently the fact that there is now loads of them, its contributing to the decreased population of fish in the ocean.
me to, animals are they to feed us, its all part of the food change, we don't go around stopping lions killing stuff do we
i have no problem with humane hunting of animals... however endangered species have to be protected at all costs... letting a community or ecosystem recover after extensive hunting or disturbance often allows it to be utilised once more. a little sense and patience is all it will take, its not as if the japanese or norwegians can plead poverty for over-hunting.
