Sky have their Half Price offer on again - free box, free instal, free HD + channels for £24 a month plus quidco

I have just got Sky HD installed into my flat, but have been waiting for almost 2 weeks for the bastards to come and install a phone line then broadband. And apparently they still have not allocated appointment to do so! Therefore it could be weeks before I get broadband in the house. Anyone know why this is taking so long?

That just on the normal website? Gonna be sorting it tomorrow.

How much are Sky charging for brand new line installs these days?

I do them for £69.99 plus £21.99 for Line Rental, 24mb ADSL2 broadband, 40gb downloads (or £24.99 for unlimited), free calls to landlines and ten other countries and a free Wifi router.

I can't compete with free for 6 months though, if you qualify for that. Just be wary of contracts, as I don't put you in one at all and there's only a £10 admin charge if you cancel in the first year.

I put this up last year and I was surprised when I got three customers, from Google(!) who'd searched everywhere else and chose that package I'd advertised.

what is ADSL2?

ADSL2 is a standard for delivering internet connectivity through telephone connections. It is designed to work approximately twice as quickly as ADSL. This means speed of up to 24Mb/s for downloads and 3.5Mb/s for uploads are theoretically possible.

I get 16 Meg download out of my home connection and just under 2 meg upload. I'm nearly 1km from my BT Exchange.

If you fancy a spot of DIY, try disconnecting the bell wire from either your master or extension socket.... you might just be surprised by the results.

Interesting I thought what I was getting was the most I could ever get.I assume sky are not using ADSL2 yet then
