Windows7 Help, Again. right, so i've just installed windows 7, accidentally putting on 64 bit. is this a problem? i thought that i would have had to stick on 32 bit? whats the difference? i can see no problem so far like?
aye, well it's a newish XPS laptop. so it must be - but i remember the engineer coming round and saying that i should really use 32 bit (since it came with 32bit OS) i've just did yet another fresh install like to avoid having problems in the future, if anything i reckon it would just strain the system.
surely it would be better to run x64 if you have a lot of ram? - just gunna get round to formatting me pc in a second since its fucked
nah, i've only got 2gb ram in this peice o' shite. i can tell the difference immediately, basically 64bit was running at the same rate in what vista was. hog's the ram and boils the boards.
not really. a 64-bit processor is backwards compatible with 32-bit software, so Win7 x32 will run exactly the same on your box as x64. Your machine will benefit more from x64 as it can take advantage of the better multitasking support offered by your processor, and it can see more than 3GB of RAM if you add it. well fuck it. i dont care all i've noticed is, that it's using alot less memory to do small tasks, 64 was boshing out nearly a gig on idle. thats fucking terrible for my battery.
