The European Space Agency (ESA) on Tuesday called for applications for one of the most demanding human experiments in space history: a simulated trip to Mars in which six "astronauts" will spend 17 months in an isolation tank on Earth.

it'll be like that experiment a few years back, can't remember where it was, Arizona i think, but basically 4 people were put in a dome for a year with no contact from the outside world to see how they would survive. Someone cut their finger early on or something and came out. what a waste of time.

I'd do it if I was actually going to Mars, but not just as an experiment here on earth.

Can't think of a more pointless use of 17 months.

If they made it into a TV show they'd have plenty of fame hungry volunteers.

I read this and had a look on the esa website and you need a particluar background to do it like medicine/engineering etc

No use for a history grad unfortunately

I might have applied to see how far l got and poss went for it if l did
