does tokyo get anyone in during the week? last time i was in there on a weekend it was shocking... loads of students there knocking out proper tripe. gone are the days of balearic on that terrace
I don't think so mate, last time I was in there I think they just had an iTunes playlist on. This will be a welcome change
Tokyo normally has El.Dee and Very Very on weekends, both of whom play some absolutely wicked stuff. Other than the One20 lads on a Thursday (who also play some nice bits) i dont think there's anything on during the week. From what I hear, the guys who are running this have an absolute knack for filling venues with students who want to hear good music. Let's see if they like Disco. Tis reet trendy these days apparently
"You’d simply be a Jive fool to be anywhere else except this new Wednesday hotspot…. Lets go retro." You trying to get the crowd from Flares in?
Dano, I occasionally type with a straight face. Depends if its right or left handed typing to be fair. I've only been to 2 of the parties these lot have thrown, one was at DB which featured Richie Ahmed and Death on The Balcony. The other was the backroom at Digital with the Jaunt Lads. Both times the music was spot on and the crowd seemed a cut above the glowstick and Kanye-glasses crowd that i myopically assume the majority of student clubbers to be. I have however just read the "Jive Fool" crack and have to admit to enduring some involuntary vom in my mouth. Just to make this clear, I've only been asked to play there. The way I see it, even if only 10% of the crowd get what the music is about and decide to dig deeper, it can still only be a good thing.
I hadn't noticed that till now. Dear me Tbf, the lads that run this night are sound as fuck. Me and Titch have been playing for them the last couple of weeks @ Loja on a Monday. They seem pretty keen to push this sound
