If that offer is true he will be going. No club in their right mind would reject an offer of that amount for a player who in my opinion isnt worth that! He has potential but no way is he worth £35m now!

If liverpool are stupid enough to want to pay that much, let them.

Fiver says Llambias is wanking himself into oblivion thinking of rinsing £35m at Aspers.

if we had someone to replace him with then i'd say let him go. with less than 7 hours till the deadline there is no chance of that happening though so i'd prefer him to stay

Is it the biggest fee for an English player ever?

Who's the replacement? Saw Tevez in the pound store on Gateshead high street before.

Transfer request has been accepted. Good as gone now. Cracking deal, just disappointed he is leaving and none of the money will go on transfers. Just casino sessions & helicopters

So many Geordies with so much Egg on their faces.

The Gift that keeps on giving :D

ps. whats the chances Toon said they would ONLY sell him if HE put in a transfer request himself so it looks like they arnt the pantomine villians. I think they also would not have to pay AC the rest of his wages if he put in a req. Reports say hes going from 30k to 80k.

Silly money for someone whos only played 41 proper games in his life... he will always get a goal from bullying keeper but he has yet to fill out, if he bulks up (look how Bent bulked up at SAFC) at his height i would expect him to lose 50% of his pace... what can a slow striker acheive in todays game? Great Business for NUFC but a sad sad day for the suffering masses.

With todays news that the police can ban gangs from wearing "colours" this is a double wammy, No Caroll and Nothing to wear!

Absolutely ridiculous money for an unproven striker, from Newcastles side the timing is absolutely shite though, puts alot of pressure on Ranger, Best and Ameobi to up there game

the stupid fucking skunks getting interviewed on SSN are a crease

"He said he loved the club and the number 9 shirt now hes turned his back on us"

Reality - Its LIVERPOOL and its EIGHTY THOUSAND POUNDS.............. not Newcastle and Thrity Thousand Punds

"He could have been a legned like Alan Shearer"

Reality - Shearer pissed his career away and never played for a big club and didnt win a single thing with NUFC. Carrol is joining one of the greatest teams in English history and I dont think any club in the land can touch liverpool supporters, proper football fans from a proper northern town.

£35m is too good a deal not to let him go. Fuck knows who we will buy in the next 3hrs to replace him like. If we stick with just Ameobi, Ranger and Best then the rest of the season will be interesting

£35m for a player with 14 premiership goals on his CV is unreal business.

Carroll is a huge prospect but relatively unproven.

This time last season he only had 3 championship goals under his belt.

Sad thing out of all of this is the fact we'll struggle to get even a fraction of the transfer fee to use for direct replacements.

everything said and done, He was a success at Newcastle, a club thats had little, a club thats spent half a billion on great players turned em duff.

He was good and you have sold him, thats the bottom line. He could have been ffered 80k to stay with yous but no, Ashley wanted the cash.

You cant buy success and you cant even put a value on a player like Carrol so no matter how much you got your club is still a lot lot poorer for it tonight.

I don't doubt we've lost our biggest star, I'm gutted to see him go. But persoanlly £35m for a player who has a total of 34 goals in a 5 year career to date is insane. I think the bitter pill for all Toon fans to swallow is the fact that none of the money (or at least the majority of it) won't be made available to bring in new players, so in that sense, yes, we've done some rubbish business tonight.

Bent - 24 goals last season, 11 under his belt before his move to Villa = £18m
    Carroll - 19 last season (Championship), 11 before his move to Liverpool = £35m + add on's

And to really put things in perspective... David Villa singed for Barca last May for £34m
