This week's podcast sees us shift down a gear and alter direction slightly from the blistering start of Craig Richards' episode 001, as we present the English gent that is Charles Webster. In 2009 we finally (!) managed to bring Charles to play at Technique where he opened the terrace on our notorious Garden Parties hosted alongside our Asylum chums. He did so with such style that we immediately invited him back and it seemed only right to give Charles a call to request his services for the second instalment of the Technique Podcast.

It was with some serious excitement that we brought Charles to Leeds last year not least because he is, in our opinion, an unsung hero and arguably one of the UK's most valuable artists. Despite not having the profile or receiving the media attention of some of his peers in the dance music community today, Charles's output speaks for itself and it is perhaps the range of artists who cite him as an influential figure in their own musical development which highlights the impact he has had over the past 18 years. With a list of aliases which is longer than most artists' legs including Furry Phreaks, Presence, Love From San Francisco and Version, alongside Martin Iveson (aka Atjazz), Charles has ensured that his name will feature highly when somebody takes it upon themselves to exhaustively document the history of house music.

For this episode Charles delivers a house flavoured mix, however to pigeonhole it might be underselling the range of influences which feature as the mix twists and develops into a display of his skills in compiling (as well as creating) sounds. We think that the best way to describe it might also be the simplest – sublime! Enjoy.

It's a canny mix, but not as good as his set from "Vinyl People" last year.
