Im still confident of a place in Europe. :)

But that wasnt good today. Ball never stuck once and just invited pressure the whole time.

Still, aside from the top 3, i cant see who is definately better than us. Though im sure u will care to list them Brian.

Absolutely shocking performance from the boys! Quite a decent start to the game from both sides but Newcastle were really out of it even before O'Brien got sent off and Chelski converted the penalty.

On a separate note, if you want to feel suicidal watching a football team, I suggest a trip down to the SOL. Never have I witnessed a side with such a lack of creativity going forward and before anyone jumps in, I'm not basing this on one or two games...there aren't many home games that I haven't been to this season - I only go for the crack....the football, especially since I'm a Newcastle fan, is completely irrelevant! I seriously hope for their sake they do NOT get promoted at the end of this season, because with the squad they have, they will end up being a laughing stock yet again!

Yeah, but does the fact that you have no one to bang the goals in for you not worry you in the slightest? I'll admit, under Shearer and Bellamy, Newcastle are very thin on the ground as far as forwards are concerned, and any talk of Shola Ameobi ever becoming a supposed "class" striker are very wide of the mark much like his shooting. Sunderland also have no back up for their first choice strike force - Marcus Stewart is seriously lacking form for one reason or another, certainly not the same player he was whilst with Ipswich, and Kevin Kyle couldn't hit a barn door!

I know you're "up there" but this only goes to show the supposed "quality" of the first division....thats not to say that there aren't any good sides in it, but the majority, even by many Sunderland supporters own admissions are utter shite! The feeling amongst the majority of the fans before the game on Saturday was that Coventry fitted into the shite category.

Once again it comes back to the hard facts. We're Premiership, Sunderland aren't. We play teams like Chelsea, Sunderland play teams like Coventry.

Can't be simplier than that. :D

totally agree - we need sum1 to start scoring the goals regular. tis a must!!! same for you's yeah...ameobi isnt as good as people say...agree with u on that one mate too!

the quality of the 1st division IS poor yeah...a think what we need to do is to get out of it sooner rather than later n start building again....

we cannot stay in the 1st division...its not an option...premier league is only league that counts for anything these days!

Does Robson think the same tho. At times, it looks to me like he's willing to stick with him whatever happens.

I'll agree with the fact that the Premier League is the be all and end all, as far as football is concerned but to be honest if Sunderland don't stay in the first division at least for another season or two, and build on what they have, I can't see them lasting long in the Premier League at all. I just don't think the cash injection from promotion would be enough to save them this time around at least anyway. Was it me or did they announce record losses for the last year anyway??

aye but i think to start building a decent team we need to get back up there - get a few million to spend on a team JUST to keep us up...then the money comin in from sponsors/tv etc will help strangthen and build summit...

if we stay in 1st division we're gonna struggle to get anywhere!

am lost with all these reports of losses etc...never know wot to believe!
