if you dont have a TV but you watch iplayer constantly - do you need a TV licence? i've heard rumours of this being true. this isnt for me but for a bunch of worried students that i know. however i told them that even if you did need one - fuck them because it's almost impossible to police it. .....at least i hope so
"Every student using a TV receiver at university to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV (including a PC or laptop) needs to be covered by a valid TV Licence." http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/students.jsp
makes me chuckle how student flap about a tv license but dont think anything about scoring a gram of coke and a ounce of green ps. iplayer is a forerunner for pay_tv for sure
That relates to the USB dongle thingys to watch TV using the PC, bbc i-player and 4demand dont require a license.
I've not looked into it, just going off what the TV license inspector told me a couple of years back when they knocked on my door asking me to buy a license.
