    Hi:Fi: part1 - the North
EXCLUSIVE! Ian Brown & more for new festival
    Wed 15th Feb 06

    Hi:Fi Hi:Fi (North) 2006

Hi:Fi is a new twin-site music festival taking place in May 2006, as the first festival with a line up of both block-rocking bands and superstar DJs. This super-sized event, taking place simultaneously both in the North and South will smash all pre-conceptions by giving rock and dance equal billing on the line-up.

Hi:Fi North will take place for one day and night on Saturday 27th May at the picturesque Matfen Estate near Newcastle. As part of the last Bank Holiday Weekend in May, Hi:Fi will kick-start the summer by being the first major outdoor music event of the season.

Headline acts for Hi:Fi North include: Ian Brown, Maximo Park, Editors, Audio Bullys, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha & John Digweed, Erick Morillo, and 2Many DJS.

Hi:Fi is brought to you by Angel Music Group, who are responsible for Global Gathering which last year sold out with over 40,000 people attending. Hi:Fi adds an event to their festival portfolio which represents people’s more eclectic taste in the noughties. The indie line up has been supervised by Glastonbury talent booker Martin Elbourne who provides valuable insight into the live music scene.

James Algate, the festival organiser says, “Hi:Fi is the festival for the iPod generation. The event will offer something for everyone musically by bridging the gap between out and out dance and live shows. We want to give our guests the opportunity to see their indie and dance heroes performing side by side for the first time. This is something that we believe will suit the more eclectic music tastes of the 21st century perfectly.”

Hi:Fi will be a festival of firsts, as the first event with live bands and DJs so closely combined on a line up, and the first time the North East has had its own major festival. It will also feature non-musical entertainment including chill out areas and comedy. Bands from the local area will also be able to enter a competition to perform live in front of the huge crowds, which is an amazing one off opportunity.

Tickets are on sale now and are broken into two categories: General Admission (£52.50+ booking fee) and VIP (£75+ booking fee). VIP tickets will entitle guest access to a private arena where they can rub shoulders with the event performers and enjoy a private bar and lounge with its own DJs and acts.

An announcement on sister event: Hi:Fi South will follow soon.
