"DJing is the greatest form of expression"

Read this somewhere again the other day.....not sure i totally agree though?!

fair enough....if you play exactly what you want then music is a great way to express yourself....but what if you are in a place where you have to adopt a certain style to fit the crowd/venue which isnt quite the same as you normally would like to play?

like at stereo, I wanted to keep it a bit deep, a bit darker.....but found myself getting more funky as I went on, since stereo isn't really the place for full on tribal or prog!

    Anyway....discuss :king:

agreed you can't just bang anything out, all of the above needs to be taken into consideration.

Too true. There needs to be more nights where you can play whatever?? ive always thought the backroom at Stonelove is good for this??

only been to stonelove a few times, damm good night. like the backroom more than the main.

As for changing styles - there's not many clubs/venues that are gonna give you a free run music wise, they know what they want. Ive had bookings telling me what time I would be playing and what they wanted from me, fair do's you can't argue. I would think they have learned from some shit bag laying it on really early and keeping the place empty, the event should all be about progression

true! its more fun going to see someone and not having a clue what to exect.

Resistance is a good little night for that, Gareth just let us have total control on what we played. :)

    will pop down chief, you don't need special kit ? 6 dex 3 mixers ? a 909 perhaps ?

what do you boys play exactly ? bit 80's electro/pop/house/hip hop fusion ? I have heard good things, I'm quite looking forward to it.

we play loads of stuff. Just depends on the night really. With Gareth and Lee playing breaks/prog, we will probs play pretty tough....
