Black Mesa: Source Those of you who played HL:Source and weren't impressed, check this out: http://www.blackmesasource.com/ A group of modders have got together and are putting HL together redoing all of the textures and maps along the way. As a quick comparison - Large image is using the source engine with re-drawn textures, inset is the old Q2 powered Half-life. Can't wait for this to be finished like
Yeah im looking forward to this. I'm looking forward to Lost Coast as well altho I've a feeling valve will fuck that up as well.
i might have to get this and have a blast to see what the fuss is about i dont have a higly spec'd machine at home as i never play games on my PC - P4 2gig with a voodoo 3 run it? 1 gig of memory
I read that Valve are really kicking off about this. I think they will do ther best to block it as they have planned to do this themselves in the future.
They would only cock it up, I think its best someone else is making it, plus they did release that source SDK didnt they for people to make mods etc?
Re: Black Mesa: Source Believe it or not but Half-Life was actually built on a heavily modified Quake 1 Engine...... I've been watching the development of this closely over the last few months.. seems like they are doin v impressive things with the AI too..
Valve already released their own version under source and thats what prompted this version. People felt that it was a cop out, and it didn't go far enough or do the original enough justice. It was only a matter of time before someone did it, just changing the physics wasn't enough. It looks like Valve may even allow distribution of BM through steam... I've not read anything that suggests they're unhappy, but if they are, they've only got themselves to blame. MoS: Just get a radeon 9600 off ebuyer. I got a 256mb one for £60, it's not the hottest shit around but it flies
Re: Re: Black Mesa: Source Both of us are right - they took code from Q2's engine as well as Q's, it's primarily quake in nature Taken from gamespy: Can't wait for source like
Re: Re: Re: Re: Black Mesa: Source Not sure, I'd imagine there'd be a port of HL2 for both, but I'm not sure how steam would work (if at all) on a console. TBH the line-up of console games coming out doesn't look any more impressive than current PC games...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Black Mesa: Source I like the style. Then again my chipped xbox is used for playing avi's and thats about it these days lol Games released are generally shit or too easy so I dont bother.
as i'm skint and can't be arsed to buy a new graphics card i managed to blag a different one - will a g-force 4 128MB do the trick? i know chuff all about games/graphic card specs...
It should be fine. Before I got my current card I was using a built in Geforce 4 MX with 64mb... and thats the worst of the gforce 4 bunch, it seemed to work ok.
which type of gf4 128mb is it? a ti 4600 or 4800 should be fine in your machine, mates got similiar and it was ok.
God I remember when I first played this it was on a right shite heap of a desktop, something like 10gb HD with 32mb RAM fucking loved it, only game I ever took any interest in. November 1999! Still play death match, so quite looking forward to this
