My washers fucked and its canny old so just going to get a new one instead of getting it fixed. Would I be right in assuming Direct drive ones are the best?Any brands that should be avoided?

Yeah, don't put bricks in them.

Brand-wise - AEG, Bosch, Siemens seem alright. Avoid Hotpoint or Beko, or any name you've never heard of.

iv bought about 30 washers in my time and tbh most are made to a very good standard now.. a lot are made same factory and re badged.

iv got nothing bad to say about any brands... but i have heard hotpoint are iffy.

if i where you i would get my arse down to Fenwicks sale and grab a Bosch, the cheapest you can afford and then stick it on their "4 payment pan" and spread the cost over 3 months. % free

I found one I liked in the shops. went online and found it cheaper. searched for a discount code online and made it even cheaper.

Think my parents have had a couple of issue with hotpoint washers and dryers. Never owned one myself

they are made to "only" last a few years iv read. I got a Miele when i got my house, cost about 5 times a normal washing machine costs but it got 15 years garentee which is unheard of like but shows you how good they are.

If you want it to last forever, Miele is the way to go.
