tsunami jokes Has anyone heard anyone telling sick jokes at the tsunami victims expense? My mate who is a DJ said some sicko requested he play "The Tide Is High" during a bucket collection in his club. I love laffing at other peoples expense but even I dont find this funny. Is the tsunami BEYOND HUMOUR?
Re: tsunami jokes it's just as sick as somebody joking about 9/11 if i was the dj i would have been tempted to get the arsehole removed
Re: tsunami jokes There was a one about football or asumthing saying why doest some team wanna play football..because the toon army was coming or sumthing I cant really remember it but u get the jist
Re: tsunami jokes nothing is beyond humour. i feel for the people caught up in this also but have heard a couple of jokes and found them funny. its like "racist" jokes, i'm not racist but if the joke is funny i'll laugh, if its simply nasty then i wont. i'm probably gonna get ripped for this like.
Re: Re: Re: tsunami jokes ness, i see what you mean. but it's too soon imo anyways, ww jokes are generally funny as now, if dated, but im sure all the people at the time would have thought sick of them with their bairns comin home in body bags...
just noticed this. http://www.promisealways.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36920&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
I get the impression Manic Street Preachers will be removing "Tsunami" from their future tours like, not sure that would go down too well. Chris is right though, this is not something to be joked about. Some lads from my old school had a very narrow escape, made it into the Journal! Even now though people are being found alive. Some guy held on to a tree for 8 days! When he started out his whole family were there, but one by one they drowned He said there was hundreds of bodies floating round him. Reminds me of a similar scene in Titanic...cant imagine how horrible that must have been! RIP
There will always be some people that kind that kind of stuff funny. If anyone watched that 'comedians comedien' hosted by Jimmy "i'm fucking everywhere" Carr it had Joan Rivers on commenting on the jokes she makes about the halocaust AND 9/11 i received an email off a mate that was a joke about the recent earthquake - i'll describe it but only to illustrate what some people do and don't find funny. i didn't find it funny - infact it was just a weak attempt at a joke. i was a rip off of a car sticker (i pressume) surfers must get, and it said "i surfed the tsunami 2004" hardy har.
ok maybe closing the thread was going a bit far....I'd had a few when I wrote that. I just feel really strongly about this, but you just know there will be jokes getting kicked about places now. So to answer Teknofish's orignal question, yes I think this is beyond humour. I cant see any element of what has happended that could be even remotley funny.
The whole Judge Jules Message Board has been shut down due to the tsunami jokes being posted on there. There was people joining up purely to put their jokes on. Let this be a warning!
One certain (regular) poster was going over the top in defending the jokes. The usual backlash occurred. And I doubt Jules would want his board seemingly condoning the jokes.
Re: Re: tsunami jokes Agreed. I dont see the big deal about it. Obviously, theres a place and a time, but in the right context it can still be amusing ifthe jkeis actually funny in itself. Maybe not just yet tho. Maybe its just my sick sense of humour? But we make jokes out of WW2, 9/11, disabled people, Pearl Harbour etc, all of which I find funny. And all these things are just as bad disasters/things.
Bollocks its wrong. Someone mentioned joan rivers, she's a jew and lost 11 friends in 9-11, laughter is often a way to deal with it if you're the victim, but from the outside looking in its just fucking cold. I fail to find anything funny about 150,000 people dying.
