its only free calls to customers services for contract customers on Orange. If you dont honour ur contract with o2 it will affect your credit rating.. my advice is drop ur exisiting o2 tariff to the lowest (if possible) and get one of the best contract deals off the orange website :D

Find out how the bill has been run up, if it is legitimate. If O2 are just catching up on previous fuck-ups, then you can argue that you should be able to spread the payment over time, as the fact that you have not budgeted for the amount is not your fault. Most companies will allow you to spread large payments anyway.

Don't ring them during the day to find out what has gone on, as this is when everyone else is doing the same thing. What time do you go to bed? If it's after eleven, try ringing them then as they will be less busy, so you will have to hold for less time and run up less excess charges. If it is their fault and you have incurred charges for ringing them up to sort it out, then you should be able to claim these charges back.

You should be able to cancel it straight away, unless you have had a phone upgrade, which usually means you effectively start another contract.

If you intend on cancelling your 02 contract, you will have to pay until the end of the years line rental!

02 is shite for customer services, but i guess thats how they can afford to offer cheap tarriffs by charging people 50p a min to speal to an advisor.

Do what i did, ring the 08 numbers (0906 are 50p) and say that someone on the 0906 number gave you that number :D that way you get it sorted out at a National Rate phone rate price :D:D

If they do cut you off, ring them from a land line. If the fault is theirs, they should reinstate your phone and you can probably try to claim some compensation for being cut off at all.

Actually they are still connected. My bro works for BT and he was just telling me the other day that his company mobile is being changed to Vodafone....he found it amusing...seeing as they are so connected to O2

o2 are a bunch of useless fuckwitted brainless tools...

took me 2 days to get through to them last week, had to ring back once to cancel the sim once to cancel the phone, they really dont think that maybe when you loose your phone it might not be convinient to borrow your mates phone and pay 50p a minute to listen to fucking dolphins... stupid stupid scouse bastards :fuming:

its a good job their email link is always working.

and a good job they bother to send me my bills instead of just swiping the money out of my account.

you never know, they might even send my phone sometime this year!!

couple of years ago i was extremely dubious about my bills from vodafone even the itemised bills didnt add up... so when i went to america i took the sim out of my phone and left it with my dads company solicitor, in 5 months i had 5 bills which should have just been line rental.. turned out they'd been charging my all kinds of random amounts while i was away... got it all refunded and cancelled my contract with them as soon as i got back... wankers

Apprently when i had a contract fone on 02 i ran up a bill of £537 in one month, when for 2 weeks of this i hadnt used my fone, as i was due to cancel it so had got a pay as you go fone with them.

Then about 8 months later they cancelled that number i rang up why and they said i owed them a £100+ phone bill, even tho i was on Pay as you go :spangled:

Dont use them they are a shit company

I had a problem with O2 taking the money a day early last year and overdrawing me. So I went in to the Lloyds TSB branch to ask them to charge O2 back and give me an immediate refund under the direct debit scheme as they are obliged to, but they refused and charged us £20 for the overdraft. The bloke in the bank told me it was not a valid reason to claim a refund, which I know is untrue as I have to refund mortgage payments for the same sort of thing on a daily basis under the scheme. He told me I was wrong as he had worked for a bank 13 years to my 2.

So I wrote a complaint threatening to take it all the way to the financial ombudsman and they refunded the charge within days. It just is not worth the expense for them to go that far, as the bank will have to pay £500 to open a file with the ombudsman if they let you complain that far.

I would recommend that you do the same as I think you will almost certainly get it back if you tell them you went in your branch and they refused the claim.

They've double billed me £49 when I have a £20 a month contract. The maximum I'll spend is an extra fiver a month on picture messages/calling on peak in emergencies for seconds on landlines/mobiles...

says my bill was £24 odd when i look online..
