ear infections anyone hada middle ear infection before? i am in fucking agony here like, feels like some fuckier is stabbing my ear drum with a razor blade i am on the anti biotics, have been for 2 days, hoe long will this pain last?
I had middle ear infections and severe tonsilitis from xmas eve until day after my birthday! Best thing for me was simply lying in bed in dark room, ideally on my side as it levelled my balance as ear infection was making me feel like I was spinning
get some co-codamol from your chemist's mate. or if it doesent get better gan to the doc's and ask for some dicloflenac or Codiene.
don't take co-codamol or codeine with paracetamol, or you'll die. which antibiotics are you on mate, and how long have you been put on them?
If you mix paracetamol with coca cola it's ten times the effects of speed. I remember when I was training at work and a manager literally started screaming in someones face for being "stupid enough" to wash a paracetamol down with diet coke.
amoxicillin, started yesterday morning. you do this "drug" stuff for a living don't you? any ideas mate? am dying here
Even stranger that I was actually given both of them by the hospital after day surgery on 5 seperate occasions as pain management. Not that they really worked but that's besides the point.
right, to go into it, you're fine on paracetamol and codeine together, provided that they're both low doses (paracetamol will be standard 500mg tablets, codeine in co-codamol, which is a combined tablet of both drugs, is usually about 3mg), you'll be 'reet. if you take normal doses of paracetamol (1g 4x daily) with prescription-only doses of codeine (i think the maximum in tablet form is 30mg, so 60mg 4x daily) for a prolonged period, your liver will eventually stop working and you'll die (after jaundice and a bit more severe shit). prolonged codeine therapy is always undesirable anyway as its addictive. it was easier for me to just say don't do it than explain all of that shit. dan - how long is your course of amoxicillin? and for the record, medics and nurses don't learn pharmacology as standard. you'd be massively surprised at how frequently they prescribe the wrong things and combinations which can be potentially harmful...
without knowing what infection it is or where, i'd say you should feel a bit better by wednesday or thursday, but if you do, make sure you take all of the antibiotics you have. that said, ear infections can be a nightmare to treat so the amoxicillin might not do much and you might need to go on a different antibiotic next week. should be 'reet though!
gentisone is a brand name, the antibiotic in the ear drop is gentamycin. that and amoxicillin are different classes of antibiotics and treat different types of bacteria, so you and dan will have a different ear infection...
